The Opportunity

Makino is seeking an Applications Engineer for our Die Mold division.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support sales territory for pre-sale technical requirements including time estimates, test cuts, and technical discussions.
  • Support proposal requirements and showroom related activities.
  • Perform post sale startup support for customer in area of part processing, programming structure, and operator training.
  • Visit customers in need of AE assistance as directed by supervisor.
  • Work in conjunction with local field service on customer machine issues as required.
  • Support turnkey requirements as developed by Makino Engineering upon arrival into territory.
  • Present and/or teach technical requirements for high speed machining.
  • Maintain showroom machines in demonstration ready condition.
  • Coordinate process training (including machine options, programming, and cell operations) at Makino and at the customer's facility.
  • Assist Customer Support in the installation/de-installation process as required.
  • Prepare marketing materials for exhibitions, technical centers, and Makino publishing.

Required Skills
  • Technical knowledge and logical troubleshooting skills.
  • Rational decision-making skills and good negotiation skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer relation skills.
  • Application and operational knowledge of CNC equipment.
  • Ability to explain Makino’s processing technology to customer.
  • Willingness to travel to customer facilities as needed.

Required Experience
  • Bachelor's degree (preferred) in a technical area or 3-5 years' or more related experience.
  • Detailed knowledge of CNC part programming (preferred).
