The Opportunity

Makino is seeking an Applications Engineer who will review and analyze various customer manufacturing requirements. Execute turnkey projects ranging from single, stand-alone machine turnkeys to multi-machine, multi-million-dollar turnkey systems. This position also supports the sales and marketing group as required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with all aspects of a turnkey project including tools, fixtures, NC part programming, machine delivery, prove-out and runoff of a customer’s part typically at both Makino and the customer’s facility.

  • Select outside suppliers for a turnkey project and negotiate price and delivery.

  • Responsible for creation of detailed documentation of a project including program listings, CAD tool and fixture drawings, definition of the process setup and operating procedures.

  • Provide process training (including machine options, programming, cell operations) at Makino and at the customer’s facility.

Required Skills
  • Ability to explain Makino’s processing technology while building rapport with customer.
  • Advanced working knowledge of NC programming, including Macro B and probing routines.
  • Ability to sit with blueprint of a part and process that part.
  • An in-depth understanding of Makino Horizontal and Vertical 5-axis machines.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% (regional and national).
Required Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or associates degree with equivalent experience.
  • 2-5 years experience related to automotive, industrial, and/or aerospace sectors.
  • Experience with high volume manufacturing production.
  • Experience with tooling selection for various processes and an understanding of sound part fixturing concepts.
  • Have background with SPC, CPK, and CMM.
